We’re always a little sceptical and nervous when two top brands join forces.. but in this case the outcome has brought together a perfect collaboration of Starboard and Airush magic! The AIRUSH Freewing Air and STARBOARD foils and boards give us the best expertise, innovation and quality in what each respective brand knows how to do best.
Freewing Air
This is an all-around wing that’s easy to use.
It’s especially controllable when overpowered and efficient when pumping in light wind due to the generous strut diameter which solidifies the frame’s stiffness. The wing is surprisingly stable when luffed in the neutral position, making it ideal for downwinders and carving.
Optimal for wingfoil beginners to down-the-line wave riders.
Starboard Foils
Starboard are offering three options for the wing foil market depending on how and what you want to ride. Choose the Ocean Surf Foil for all-round riding. Available in 2000 or 2400 cm front wing areas. It is designed to ride ocean swells, surf smaller softer waves efficiently and for wing foiling in light winds.
For more lift and steady speeds then opt for the Wave Classic Foil (1500 or 1300). This is a steady, maneuverable foil with a classic, lifty feel that comes from its extra-thick wing profile and extra deep concave.
If you’re looking for performance then you have the Wave Foil (1700 or 1300). It handles surface breaches smoothly and keeps accelerating. For wing foiling, this foil offers speed and performance in medium to strong winds.
Foil Boards
Our favourites are the Starboard Hyper Foil, available in two different constructions (Starlite/Carbon) or the Starboard Hyper Nut 4-in-1.
The combination of a short compact outline, distinct channel bottom and thick profile on the Hyper Foil makes it a platform for entry-level learning to foil up to the world’s most progressive riders. While the Blue Carbon edition provides a lighter, stronger and more responsive version, constructed using ultra lightweight Biax Carbon, high-density Balsa and PET foam, and 140g S-Glass wrapping the full bottom of the board.
The Hyper Nut 4-in-1 comes in the Starlite construction and, as the name suggests, can be used for all four or the major foil disciplines (wing/wind/surf/SUP). Slightly heavier than it’s standard Hyper Nut Foil by approximately 300g, it has more foot strap inserts as well as the mast track box. The Foil box on the 4-in-1 is positioned further back by on average 6.5 cm to accommodate both Wind Foiling and SUP Foiling.
